Carmen Atkins is a U.S.-trained attorney who has lived, worked and studied in various countries throughout Latin America, in particular, U.S.A. and Ecuador.  She is currently admitted to the Bar Association in California.


Before moving to Ecuador, Carmen Atkins served as associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, a top five U.S. corporate law firm focusing on capital markets and mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Atkins counseled large publicly-traded companies regarding their public reporting obligations, securities compliance and corporate governance, coordinated transactions to secure financing, assisted with negotiations of merger agreements, and performed due diligence. She also collaborated on foreign corrupt practices act investigations.


In Ecuador, Ms. Atkins’ practice has focused on human rights, refugee and immigration law. Ms. Atkins also has significant experience counseling individuals on U.S. immigration and nationality law, assisting clients with family-based immigration petitions and waivers.
